Visitor Information

Directions to Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Detailed directions to JPL, including area maps.

Hotel Accomodations

There are a number of hotels and motels in the area from which to choose. More information about local accommodations and activities can be obtained from the Pasadena Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Access to Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Visits must be approved in advance. This will require some coordination and processing (see Contact Information for Mark Brodwin or Mairi Brookes) in advance of the visit.

When you come to JPL, please make sure you bring the proper unexpired identification for your visit. You will not be allowed entry without it, even if your visit has been approved! Proper identification consists of:
  • If you are a U.S. citizen, a valid U.S. driver's license or a passport

  • If you are a permanent resident,
    • your permanent residency card
        and
    • a valid U.S. driver's license or a passport

  • If you are a foreign national,
    • a valid passport
        and
    • your current visa (if applicable)

When you arrive at JPL, please tell the guard at the entrance that you are a visitor. He or she will direct you to the visitor's parking lot (If this lot is full, tell the nearest guard that you are a visitor, that the visitor lot is full, and that you'd like to park in the annex lot. He or she will direct you to the annex (or other) parking area and open the gate). Walk into the Visitor's Center and tell the receptionist that you are a visitor and ask her to call one of us (Mark Brodwin or Mairi Brookes). We'll meet you at the Visitor's Center and bring you to the Center for Long-Wavelength Astrophysics for the colloquium.
